Vintage cars rub shoulders with Teslas in the driveway here, which feels fitting for this old 1800s manor now reborn for a new era. While the modern menu is flashy and the interiors still sparkling new, learning about the history is one of the best bits about checking in. Within the old stone exterior is a thoroughly refreshed take on country living, with maximalist Belle Époque-inspired interiors (they’ve somehow made leopard-print rugs work in an olde worlde country manor) and far-reaching bucolic views across the hotel’s peaceful grounds and lake. Layers of eclectic maximalist design and old school grandeur are balanced with charming service. The result is in an idyllic, picturesque place to rumble home to after a day’s exploits exploring the bustling villages that surround.
